Army, Navy and Air Force units throughout Sweden train national service conscripts and personnel who will subsequently be made available for operational or standby duty. The units trained by the Swedish Armed Forces may then be registered with international force registers administered by the EU, the UN or NATO.

Training units help to maintain national preparedness, assist in the training of reserve officers and personnel from NGOs and the Home Guard, and support the civil community through the provision of manpower and resources in the event of serious emergencies such as forest fires. Units have an important role to play in the Armed Forces’ task of maintaining surveillance of Swedish territory and preventing any infringements.

Units also assist in the development of tactics and materiel for the Swedish Armed Forces.
